Troubleshooting

An analysis or import is stuck at 0%

Refresh the page using the reload button next to your browser's address bar.

I got an error message during analysis or import

This is often a brief internet connection interruption rather than an app issue. Wait a few seconds and try again. If the error persists, it may be a bug - please contact support so it can be investigated.

No preview appears after uploading a document

The upload likely failed because the connection to the server was interrupted. Delete the document and upload it again. Avoid continuing to work with a document that has no summary preview, since this can lead to errors later - see Uploading Files.

Q (the AI assistant) refuses to answer

This usually means your question triggered a language-model guardrail, which is outside QInsights' control. Rephrasing the question resolves this in most cases.

I keep seeing repeated error messages

If errors persist across several actions, the system may no longer be responding correctly. Log out and log back in.

General questions

Is my data used to train AI models? No. Your data is never used for training, and QInsights infrastructure is compliant with GDPR, ISO/IEC 27701, and HIPAA. See Data Security and Privacy and the full privacy policy.

How long can I stay logged in without doing anything? QInsights automatically logs you out after 30 minutes of inactivity, for security reasons.

Can I anonymize my data before uploading it? Yes - the Data Anonymizer Tool runs locally on your device and can mask or replace up to 27 categories of personal and sensitive information before anything reaches QInsights.

Why does my analysis feel too general when I query a large dataset? Large language models tend to summarize broadly across large volumes of data, which can dilute nuance. Try narrowing your query to a smaller, targeted subset using filters - see Prompting Strategies for why this helps and how to do it well.

Can I combine Excel survey data with Word or PDF transcripts in one project? No - spreadsheet data is processed differently and can't be combined with Word, PDF, audio, or video files in a single analysis. Keep survey data in its own project; see Excel and Survey Data.

Why does Q sometimes answer in the wrong language? Unprompted analyses (Summary, Theme Analysis) follow the language of your source document; prompted analyses (Conversational Analysis and similar) follow the language of your prompt. If the response comes back in the wrong language, just ask a follow-up such as "Please write the answer in German." See Introduction - Language support.

What's the difference between highlighted references and formal coding? Highlights point to the general region of a document that supports an answer - sometimes only a fragment is highlighted. They're meant to help you validate Q's answer against your data, not to serve as precisely coded segments.

Can someone I share a project with delete my documents? No - invited teammates can run analyses and add results, but they can't delete documents from a shared project. See Teamwork and Sharing.
